You might not like our protagonist at first, he is a bit of a recluse,

is an ass to his older sister that bends over backwards for him

He chooses to wind and per instructions places the ticket in the second drawer of his desk.
Momentarily, after arguing with his sister, he trips over a box.

He winds the doll up with that key
